As daylight
slowly
Glimmers away
Suffocated by
the autumn
Darkness
Waiting in
the shadows
The early
sun
We barely
see here
Sets the
alarm
In our minds
Birds waiting
along
In a row
For the call
To retreat
to safety
For a night of
rest
Weather warnings
Bring fear
and shut
Everything down
In a country
not used
To such
devastation
Clocks will
be changing
Soon
Bringing less
time
Of light
A sea of changing
colour
Will form a
pathway
Of foot
printed
Leaves
Inviting everyone
Young and
old
To throw
Them about
With boot
covered feet
Kettle on
the boil
Warm pots on
the cooker
Fires lighting
Cold breath
Breathing out
smokeless breath
